He was a handsome man. Tall, dark, and very well defined.
His dark hair looked like it would feel like silk, and his
dark eyes were mysterious yet powerful. The heat in her body
surprised her. Something inside told her she would see him
again. She sighed as the band began tuning up for the next
set.
But as she started to sing, this time she wasn’t soothed by
the smooth, melodious rhythm. This time she sang to the man
who had with just one touch started a slow burning flame
inside of her. She sang of lost love and love found, of
safety and of trust, of coming home. She didn’t just sing to
her own heart, she sang to his as well.
Tavoli leaned against the building, in the alley away from
prying eyes. He could hear her just as clearly as if he was
right in front of her. He felt her words and placed a hand
over his heart. He could feel it pounding, and he could feel
something more. Fear.
He took a deep breath, waiting for it to pass. He knew if
she refused him, his heart would be allowed to break. He was
afraid he wouldn’t survive it. He had never been afraid in
his life. But every emotion he had felt in the last few
hours was new to him. He hadn’t felt them since his change
hundreds of years ago. Even though he still held the vampire
side of him, Hades held tight to that part of his soul. But
the feeling in him now, this fear and something else, could
only mean that part of him was reaching for this one woman.
