Gwen has
agreed to rent an allegedly haunted antebellum mansion,
hoping the unusual setting will inspire her to start writing
again. In the hope of uncovering some clue as to the
identity of her resident spirit, she enlists the aid of a
local historian. The woman tells her the fascinating
history of the Calhouns, the family who occupied the mansion
during the Civil War. Gwen is captivated as the Calhoun
family saga unfolds.
Emotional
issues had driven a permanent wedge between the two Calhoun
brothers, Joshua and Rory. Political unrest plagued the
nation, as the divisions between North and South became more
evident. The two brothers had never agreed on anything.
They even had opposing viewpoints when it came to the threat
